| GDYNIA, POLAND-(3-7-2003) In August, Gdynia will become a capital of 'sailing stars'. 400 competitorswill come to Gdynia to take part in the fourth edition of Idea GdyniaSailing Days (5th-9th August). This year, the total prize money isuncommonly high, as far as European regattas are concerned, and comes to 50000 euros. Idea Gdynia Sailing Days is the greatest sailing event in the Middle Europe.Why? The answer is simple. The regatta attracts sailors from the wholeworld. Almost 1300 sailors from 22 countries took part in the previouseditions of IGSD. The main event of the regatta is the World Cup in all Olympic classes: 470,49er, Europe, Finn, Laser, Mistral, Star, Tornado and Yngling. However, thecompetitors do not come to Gdynia only in order to get the Cup points. Whatbecomes a magnet for them is a good organisation of the regatta, fantasticatmosphere and ...the money! This year, the competitors can win much more,comparing to the previous editions. The total prize money comes to 50 000euros, which equals around 220 000 PLN. A lot of competitors from countries such as Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Italyand Great Britain, will enter the regatta. Strong national teams are alsoexpected from following countries : Russia, Belarus, Czech Republic,Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary and Ukraine. Polish 'sailing stars' willbe present as well. Among the best racing sailors in all Olympic classes,invited to the fourth edition of IGSD, there are Mateusz Kusznierewicz(Finn), Monika Bronicka (Europe), Przemysław Miarczynski (Mistral M), AgataBrygola (Mistral W), Tomasz Stanczyk and Tomasz Jakubiak (470 M). IDEA GDYNIA SAILING DAYS is also the only sailing festival in Poland thatunites the yachting circles. Next to the Olympic champions taking part inthe competitions, there will be the Offshore Yachts IMS, 730 - NationalPolish Class and Splash class. Every year there is also a hard struggleamong modellers. This time, they will fight for the European Cup in RadioControlled Boats Regatta in Marblehead class. The sailing festival in Gdynia is the best of its kind since sailing fanscan celebrate it both on the water and ashore. There will be an opportunityto watch the competitors' struggle either from the cruise ships or on bigscreens placed in the marina. Moreover, the sailing festival is accompaniedby various entertaining events such as concerts, discos, karaoke, fireworksand Frutti di Mare Festival. Great fun waits for competitors as well as thespectators and other guests of Idea Gdynia Sailing Days. This year's regatta will be widely broadcast in media. Reports from thecourse areas are to be provided by TVP (Polish TV), RMF FM - radio station,Rzeczpospolita daily newspaper and Wirtualna Polska (Polish portal). For thefirst time this sailing event will be also broadcast on EuroSport in SailingWorld programme.
